One of the ways we are able to create sustainability and self sufficiency on our homestead is through breeding. We have perfected our breeding programs, increased our clientele and offset feed costs. All our animals require no out of pocket expenses and this allows us to allocate our finances to other things.

Hatching Services

Hatching Eggs

Experience the joy of hatching your own feathered friends. We strive to ensure 100% fertility rates through our advanced fertility testing procedures. This testing enhances your hatching success and provides you with healthy, vibrant chicks.

Day Old Offspring

If hatching isn’t your thing, that’s okay! We can do it for you! We sell day old chicks, poults and ducklings by request. Whether you want a few or a bunch, let us know we’d love to help you create a thriving flock. We have also been hatching broilers and offering them for sale as well.

Adults

We strive to ensure our breeding flocks meet a high standard for our breeding program. And some birds just don’t make the cut! This means they will be seeking a new coop to call home. We don’t always have adults available but will at odd times have some pullets or cockerels available from previous hatches.

  • Peafowl

We have a beautiful pair of India Blue peafowl affectionately names Patrick and Priscilla. 2024 was the first year we received fertilized eggs from this couple and had the chance to hatch out a few very cute chicks. Hoping 2026 does us good!

India Blue peafowl are weather hardy, they are extremely intelligent and can be trained to respond to commands, and the peacocks are known for their vibrant and striking plumage.

  • Chickens

For the last few years we have bred Lavender Orpingtons and Buff Orpingtons. We have found our Orpingtons to produce the best and have the highest fertility rates. In 2025 we introduced Light Sussex and Barred Rocks into the mix. We hatch almost weekly with our pure groups. But we do also hatch some backyard mix once in a while to fill the incubator.

  • Ducks

We love our ducks and we love all the breeds we’ve had over the years; but just like our chickens we have decided to move away from some breeds. In 2025 we chose to stick with Standard Pekins and have done well with them. We have found we are one of the only Standard Pekin breeders in Central Alberta, many travel a ways to purchase our ducklings. In 2026 we founds ourselves with some stragglers and also have some cross breeds of Silver Appleyard and Pekin. Our hopes is to add a few new breeds, to have a mixed pen for eating eggs, and add some colour to lives.

  • Turkeys

For many years we raised heritage breed turkeys, in 2024 we sold our large group of Bourbon Reds and got out of breeding turkeys. That only lasted till 2025 when we acquired some Bronze, one of the largest breeds of heritage turkeys. We have a beautiful trio that produce great quality poults. Bronze are known for their friendly temperament, winter hardiness and firmer and valued for their meat texture

  • Embden Geese

I’d like to say these are amazingly friendly birds, but we have a spicy pair that breed and hatch their own offspring. We have yet to have to incubate any eggs as our goose manages to hatch all on her own which is great for us! Leaves more room in the incubator. Embden are massive white domestic geese, they can make wonderful, affectionate and loyal pets if hand-raised from a young age. They are great alarm systems, as they are incredibly loud. They can live 20 - 30 years.

  • Chukar Partridges & Ringneck Pheasants

What started out as a closer to home personal source of game birds for training purposes, has turned into supplying other bird dog enthusiasts with game birds as well. We hatch almost weekly and sell hatching eggs when we have extras or the incubators are full.

Breeding Livestock

Potbellied Pigs

We breed unregistered miniature potbellied pigs. We believe in ethical breeding which means we prioritize the health and wellbeing of the parents and their piglets over anything else. We are very selective of where our piglets go meaning we are never in a rush to find a home for these babies.

Donkeys

We breed miniature Donkeys. We love our donkeys, and I will be the first to say that everyone should have a donkey. They are so loving and have the sweetest personalities. We have one foal expected late summer of 2026.

Goats

We are working on creating a small herd of breeding females. We currently have four; Nigerian, Lamancha and Nigerian Crosses. The breeds we have are not necessarily ā€œmeatā€ breeds, so most offsprings go as pets. If the buck did his job we expect kidding to start mid to end of October.

  • Potbellied Pigs

Pigs are exceptionally smart! As well as stubborn and have big attitudes for such small creatures. We love our little group of Potbellied Pigs affectionately known as the P. Wiggly family. We have four females (Luna, Mabel, Greta & Ozy) our boar Oscar and his neutered companion Pablo and our old lady Penelope.

Not all gilts or sows are meant to be bred. And so far only 2 of our sows will be moving forward in our breeding program.

  • Donkeys

Mini donkeys make great pets, they are affectionate and they don’t require much upkeep. They are known to be gentle, intelligent and sociable.

We have 4 miniature donkeys a jack (Donkey) and 2 Jenny’s (Waffles & Coco). Currently one is bred and due for late summer of 2026. We are so excited.

  • Goats

Goats are quite the characters. Many small breeds make great pets and can be used for milk production. Ours help graze the areas we don’t mow (Free food) and we breed them for milk and sell the kids as pets. We have Nigerian Dwarf, some ND crosses and a lamancha who are extremely friendly breeds and known to be quite hardy. We would like to move towards some meat breeds and sell direct. They are popular in some cultures and we have been asked tons of times to start offering meat breeds.
